Please read Chapter 1-7 and Chapter 12 of Daniel. What do you see in the stories that might have helped Ancient Israel provide ethical guidance or emotional fulfillment? What do you see here that show something about how Ancient Israel taught the world "new ways to dream"?
The book of Daniel is a great example of emotional fulfillment. It shows Daniel overcoming his trials with the help of God. It also shows Shadrach Meshach and Abednego getting saved from the fiery furnace they were thrown in because they worshiped God and he wouldn't let anything bad happen to them, as long as they only believed in him and no other God.
ReplyDeleteI felt like there was a common theme throughout The Book of Daniel. Many kings worshipped other gods/things and each time they were brought to the God of the heavens. I feel like this is great example of ethical guidance. They were shown of how great God really is especially in the examples of when Daniel was put in the lion's den and was not harmed because he had faith in God and also in the example of when Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego were saved from the furnace the king threw them into because of their belief and trust in God. The Book of Daniel also showed emotional fulfillment, because those who believed and trusted in God were rewarded/saved. All these examples of how Daniel could interpret dreams and how the Lord helped the believers throughout their lives is what led Israel to the "new ways to dream"
ReplyDeleteThroughout the book of Daniel, we figure out his connection to emotional fulfillment. In the first chapter Daniel, he asks the guards to test him for ten days. This to be shows how important guidance is Daniel and keeping to his promises. Daniel was an adamant individual, and didn't want anyone to be let down. He for one didn't simple take no for an answer. He also taught the people to love God, and trust in him. This will provide the people the most guidance.
ReplyDeleteThe book of Daniel includes examples of both ethical guidance and emotional fulfillment throughout the stories. When Nebuchadnezzar wanted to have someone explain his dream to him, he called upon the Chaldeans, the magicians, the enchanters, and the sorcerers. When none of them could explain it, Nebuchadnezzar decided to kill all of them. However, God provided Daniel with the dream that night so he could explain it to Nebuchadnezzar. Believing in the Lord saved Daniel and his friends from death. When it was time for Daniel to explain the dreams, he did not take credit for figuring them out, but instead gave the credit to God. This displays ethical guidance as Daniel does not take credit for something that he did not do alone. After this, Daniel and his people got promoted by Nebuchadnezzar. This helped people see that with God all things are possible and any dream can be achieved which in turn helped people dream in a new way.
ReplyDeleteThe story of Daniel is a great display of emotional fulfillment and ethnical guidance. Daniels visions always show god as triumphant. This gave the people a sense of security, if you are on gods side you will always win. The book gave the people something to achieve and focus on. If they believed in god and his doings they will be saved which provides emotional fulfillment. The people of Israel started to believe in new dream and knew anything was possible. - Bethany Crosswait
ReplyDeleteBook of Daniel i feel is all about the lesson of ethical guidance and emotional fulfillment. God choose Daniel for many reasons. He was chosen that night to be the one to deliver the message to read Nebuchadnezzar dream and let him know that god took credit for the explanation. Daniel lead the jewish people to do gods work and only believe in one god. The Brothers being put in the furnace and Daniel being put into the lion den was to show people that its ok and that gods is really on our side and that he will not abandon them. After this happen by Daniel being choose to be example of gods work. The people of israel had proof and started to believe in the only one god. This emotional fulfillment lead the jews to believe in the powerful god and how great their lives could be in the possibility of dreaming a good life.

The stories in the Book of Daniel show Daniel as representation of an ideal worshipper of the one God; he does everything that he is supposed to do for his one God, and as a result is rewarded for his behavior with good happenings. These stories might have helped Ancient Israel provide ethical guidance/emotional fulfillment by showing the people what happens when you worship one God. People will want to emulate behavior that will benefit them; therefore, they see Daniel benefiting from worshiping one God, they will want to as well. Specifically the story about the three advisors who are thrown into the furnace but are protected by their belief in their God I found interesting. This would represent to the people that if they truly fill their lives with their God, no harm can come to them because their God will protect them. A God protecting you is an especially good source of emotional fulfillment, because what will make you feel better than having an ethereal being choose to protect you because of your good behavior?
ReplyDeleteI see here a common link between dreaming things and making them reality; trying to figure out what they mean, as well, but doing what your dreams tell you and improving yourself. Specifically people looked to what Daniel was doing, how he was worshiping his God, and wanted to be like him to help make his dream of glorifying his God a reality.
The story of Daniel encompasses the ideas of both emotional fulfillment and ethical guidance. Ancient Israel provided both of these concepts by following David's example of following and worshiping one God alone. Daniel and his friends saved their lives by keeping strong with their faith. They had their beliefs tested by putting their lives at stake; Daniel was put in a lion's den and his friends in a furnace. They came out alive and unharmed. This test of faith was a great example of ethical guidance. Israel's new way to dream is the idea that anything can happen if you stay strong with your faith.
ReplyDeleteThe story of Daniel displays to us that God provided him and his people with ethical guidance and emotional fulfillment. Daniel didn't have an easy task, God put him to the test to see how faithful he was to him. God had the king put three brothers inside of a very hot furnace. But, instead of cursing God, they remained faithful and in the end, ended up coming out of the furnace without a single burn. Daniel was put inside a lion den. Like the others, he didn't panic and remained unharmed. Daniel showed the people that through God, he can provide the people that believe in him emotional fulfillment.

The Book of Daniel is a perfect example of showing how the Jewish people see themselves as the chosen people of God. Being God's chosen people not only provides emotional fulfillment, it also (in theory) tells the Jewish people to follow the laws and decrees because they have been chosen, i.e. ethical guidance. Daniel is able to stay faithful and many miracles are performed by him and around him. He stays faithful and is rewarded, therefore the Jewish people should too. The God of Israel allows His people to be greater in ways that other religions had not.
ReplyDeleteEthical guidance and emotional fulfillment was provided when Daniel stepped up and explained to the king how God helped him understand his dream. It is also provided when the people saw what believing and honoring one God alone can do for a person when they see the men walking through fire. Ancient Israel taught the world new ways to dream when Daniel became a leader and explained how dreams work and are something to aspire to have.

The book of Daniel is an excellent example of emotional fulfillment. He was a Jew who went through different trials but with the help of God got through them. In the book there were different examples that showed Gods love for those who worship him and keep his word. The first example was the three brothers who were tossed into the furnace because they weren’t worshiping the other gods that Nebuchadnezzar told them to. God protected them from the flames. The second example is when Daniel was thrown into the lion’s den. Daniel survived it all because of his strong trust and faith in God. These examples taught the Jewish people to have faith in God and he will always be there for them.
ReplyDeleteDaniel gets his emotional fulfillment by believing and praising God. Also the three brothers, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego receive their emotional fulfillment from God. They did not bow down to Nebuchadnezzar and believed God would protect them even when they were thrown in the fire.
ReplyDeleteThis story shows well about emotional fulfillment and ethical guidance by using the character named Daniel. He was choosed when he was young with other children. He was raised with king's food. He got skill in all literature and wisom from God. His life is also saved by God. Basically, this story is all about how Daniel was saved. The reason why i think this story is for emotional fulfillment and ethical guidance is because this story is all about God's power. Their God can save his life, and his friend's life too. Every harsh circumstance can be solved by God. I think this story perfectily explain about God's power which is important factor for emotional fulfillment.

I think all the things that Daniel went through and survived were the best examples of emotional fulfillment and ethical guidance. Daniel surviving being thrown in the furnace, and then the three brothers dying was a great example. It showed people that Daniel did have someone protecting him. Another example is when the lion's mouth was shut so he could not harm Daniel. That also showed that Daniel was being protected. These things, and a few others, proved to the people that there was a real God out there, who was protecting Daniel. It gave the people something to believe in. When things like this happened, it also made the people feel more safe. It gave them the opportunity to dream big as well because they knew with the help of God, they could accomplish anything.

The story of Daniel can show me both ethical guidance and emotional fulfillment. First of all, the story of Daniel is related with the faith of God. In other words, most of common stories tell us that King worship God, and God bring other rewards or something good to king. I think this is like a ethical guidance. Secondly, I can show this story is entirely emotional fulfillment. Daniel is Jew and got through a lot of trouble. Through a lot of trials, he overcomes them with help of the God. Also, there is another example of emotional fulfillment: Shadrach, Meshak and Abednego who were thrown in the fiery furnace because of trust of God are saved from the fiery furnace. In other words, believing God can get a variety of rewards from God. This can say that Ancient Israel got a help and showed world a new way to dream. The dream can accomplish with the faith and help of God.
ReplyDeleteI meant in my previous post that Shadrach, Meshak, and Abednego survived being throw in the furnace. I got confused. Sorry about that. That was great proof to the people that there was a real God.

Daniel tries to solve the problem of evil. He explains that horrible things happen, but a person has to do what god wants him to. Nebuchadnezzar’s has a dream that he represents the head god. God will establish his kingdom for people to worship. If the people worship his dream, then they will be strong. This shows ethical guidance because people think that the dream is a sign for something good to happen. If the people worship God and follow his dream, they will be guided to be something good. This shows emotional fulfillment because everybody will believe in the same thing. They will think everything is good because they have a plan set out for them. Ancient Israel taught the world new ways to dream because the answer to the problem of evil is that one day there will be a resurrection. The resurrection will mean eternity, justice, and everything bad will be gone. People will be good again during this time. The suffering we faced throughout our life time has a purpose. It will make us into something better.
ReplyDeleteAncient Israel could look to the story of Daniel for ethical guidance. They could see that Daniel stood for what was right and refused to bow down to any other god but his own. From this account, they would be able to use Daniel as an example and live like him. If they did what was right, God would protect them. Ancient Israel taught the world new ways to dream or how to view the world. Not everyone had believed that there was only one god. From this story, there is proof that only one true God exists and that we should follow Him.

The Book of Daniel surly provides ethical guidance for the people of yesterday and the people of today yet. How can a few words in the Bible, a couple thousands of years old still run people's ethics yet? It is because it lays out the Godly rules to live by to get into Heaven. Without this story we would have nothing to look forward to in live, or the end of life. This also beings justice to people in that they learn how to act and treat those around them. Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth-Matthew 5:5

The book of Daniel definitely shows that it provides ethical guidance and emotional fulfillment for people. The book of Daniel show the resemblance of a great person who can be a messenger and who can trust in God. The trust in God is always there with Daniel and Daniel always gives God full credit that is deserved as God lead him the whole way through his journeys.

Through out the book of Daniel there are many examples showing how it provides emotional fulfillment and ethical guidance. Is tells us how people are overcoming events, being saved, and it also tells us that Daniel wanted to people to trust and believe in him and to believe in God, and with this they will be provided with guidance.
